Buildex Field Trip

BUILDEX is a well-known conference event that happens across many major cities in western Canada. It connects several different trades and fields across the building industry. This event showcases new innovations and discoveries by professionals within the industry. In relation, sustainability and environmental awareness was a major topic across the whole event. The major impact I felt was the push for energy consumption and using sustainable practices for the performance of a building. Additionally, many attendees were promoting sustainable products and services for buildings such as paint, tape, siding, concrete etc.

TCC Pool Upgrades Field Trip

This field trip was an educational experience for the performance of a public pool. It was interesting to see the depths needed to improve the mechanical system of such a large facility. This gave me a greater understanding of how a stronger, more advanced mechanical system can increase the sustainability of a building, and overall reduce the negative affects it has on the environment.

Energy Advising Seminar

This energy advising seminar had a great impact in understanding the importance of implementing the step code to promote change. It explained how modeling the energy consumption vs production of a building can benefit the performance of its systems. This was an eye-opener as to how any and all buildings can and should be environmentally conscious.
